Opening Times


Monday to Friday – 8am til 7.30pm

No commercial waste is permitted at any Household Recycling sites.

All Recycle Centres offer to recycle a variety of items including:

  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Electrical items (anything with a plug on it)
  • Clothes
  • Batteries
  • Light bulbs
  • Bulky cardboard e.g. from a new TV, fridge etc.
  • Shoes
  • Books, CD’s, DVD’s, videos
  • Metal
  • Wood
  • Car batteries
  • Gas bottles
  • Rubble
  • Excess blue bin and brown bin recyclable material

Vans/Pick-ups and any Vehicle with a Trailer

Please ensure that any van or pick up type vehicle and/or vehicle with a trailer must obtain permission 24 hours before accessing the site. Any vans/pick ups and/or trailers that are not pre-booked will not be permitted access.

Book van/pick-up and/or trailer

Contact Waste Services on 01389 738203 or 01389 738699 between 8.45am and 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and between 8.45am and 3.45pm on a Friday (except public holidays).

Information required:

  • The registration of the vehicle
  • The make, model and colour of the vehicle
  • Any signage on the vehicle
  • Details of the waste you wish to dispose of
  • The number of trips you anticipate to make to the Household Waste Recycling Centre

Please be advised that vans/pick ups and/or vehicles with a trailer will be only be permitted to the Household Waste Recycling Centres on four occasions during any rolling 12 month period.

Please be advised that should you visit any HWRC and operatives are of the opinion that the waste you are disposing of is commercial waste you may not be permitted access.

Please be advised that the hiring of a van and a man is classed as being ‘for hire and reward’ and therefore the waste is classed as being commercial. As such, permission to dispose of this type of waste at any of the Household Waste Recycling Centres will not be granted.
